Support for Parents

Parenting can be difficult. It can be a challenge to raise happy and capable children with all the pressures of modern society. Sometimes this can leave us feeling exhausted or even thwarted.

I can offer support to parents through discussing useful parenting strategies, helping increase understanding of child developmental stages and how to support them and also in supporting playful parenting through suggesting activities.

When working with individual children in Play Therapy I also recognise the importance of building positive relationships with their parents.  Together we set objectives or hoped for outcomes from the therapy and use these to monitor the effectiveness of the sessions.

Feedback

“Communication with the family has been amazing in terms of listening to us and providing advice.”

— Parent of a 5 year old boy

“I’m so happy my daughter will sleep in her own bed now and bedtime is calmer now and we can enjoy stories together and both go to bed happy.”

— Parent of 7 year old girl

“Play therapy has been really useful for my son. I am really impressed with how he can talk about what is bothering him, his communication about his emotions has blown me away. Also, his ability to calmly manage himself around home routines and homework, he’s a different child.”

— Parent 6 year old boy

Play therapy can help a child make sense of their emotions, their impulses and their behaviours. It helps them discover a sense of who they are and who they can be.
